I'm an amateur baker who has been making cakes since my son's 2nd birthday when I decided that I would have a crack at making him a lego block cake. It was a disaster (lumpy, uneven and cracked fondant) but people were very kind and said it was marvellous so I continued on with my attempts.
I am still very much a strictly cakes for friends and family type baker. I get much too stressed out (and make too many mistakes) to actually run a business. Here I want to chronicle my cake making misadventures, and perhaps even share one or two tips that I have learned along the way.
